Fall Gardening - Do's & Don'ts
We have been trained to believe that some landscaping be done in autumn, or at risk of a productive garden next year. In fact, some tasks are best performed in the fall, but, contrary to common belief, the other can be postponed or omitted altogether. Here is a list of some of the fall season and not do to help your garden flourish in next year. DO clean the dead annuals or fall or face in the spring. DO NOT remove the dead plants, if you want some green in your garden during winter. Note that during the winter break, providing fertilizer for your garden. In the spring, simply turn on the ground and magically disappear. Existing Pull weeds in the fall, along with the sick, the foliage damaged by insects, or rotten fruits or vegetables. Wash the pots and store them away for next season.DO continue to water the garden and trees until the ground begins to freeze. After our dry summer, trees need more water to give them the strength to face the cold winter months.DON T 'feel the need to mulch all your plants. It helps keep the soil at a stable temperature throughout the winter, and helps retain moisture, but is only really necessary for your delicate plants. They rake in your lawn. Some believe that the leaves decompose in the spring, so why bother. Raking helps keep the lawn in good health, improving air circulation and prevent the grass from the dead. Additionally, the leaves make excellent mulch for the rest of the garden. NOT do rake in, if you have only a thin layer of leaves can be cut into small pieces. DO water and fertilize the lawn. Feed your lawn in late October and will be better equipped to cope with the winter months, and healthy in the new season.DO plant spring bulbs and garlic in the fall. Dear and colored crocuses and daffodils sprouting after a long cold winter. Planting garlic in the fall means that you can pick up next July. NO in all other plants that do not survive the winter. Trim your geraniums to about 4 inches long and store in a cool, dark place. Shake off the dust and dirt from the roots of sulfur. The next February, replanting and place in a sunny window. Do not fertilize the grass that has been ravaged by drought. In other words, this summer, if your lawn has been the neighborhood that seemed straw - Skip the fertilizer and water instead. Continue to mow the lawn, leaving about 2 1 / 2 inches long that winter is approaching. Left too long can cause snow mold that can kill your lawn. Do not wash the blades and garden tools, and make necessary repairs to your list for next spring. Now is the time to sand and oil wooden handles with linseed oil. Wipe metal surfaces with a wire brush, sharpen the cutting edges, and apply the oil to prevent oxidation.
