Is Your Garden Protected By Your Home Insurance?
With us Britons enjoying the longer summers and warmer every year, spend more time and more - and money - our gardens. In fact, according to the Horticultural Trades Association, we spend a staggering ฃ 3 billion, more than a year on furniture, plants and gardening equipment. However, many of us do not realize that our gardens can not be protected by our home insurance in case something is stolen, lost or destroyed. And "many of us probably have not even thought - the testimony of our garden. But it makes sense to protect our investments. The cost of garden furniture, ornaments, the state of the art, barbecue etc. all go soon, as we have seen , and if something happens, you could find yourself seriously out of pocket. And no matter how hard we try to protect our gardens, will never be safe as the search for our homes, which means that they are exposed to theft and vandalism. Fresh from a company called Direct Line has reported that one in ten of homeowners at risk of being a victim of theft from their gardens. They say that the most common items that are stolen are hanging baskets, lawn mowers, gnomes, furniture, tools and even plants! Similarly, the list of garden furniture nationwide as the most common being stolen, followed by bicycles, garden ornaments and statues. Even the clothes on the washing line not are safe with them is the most common element that session disappears from the garden! And its not just that theft is a problem. The weather can wreak havoc on your garden with snow storms and winds, causing severe damage and, unfortunately, acts of senseless vandalism is common. Check your home insurance policy thoroughly to see what you have, if any. If coverage is planned for the garden, as standard, which not only a limited number of companies insurance and even then it's probably a basic coverage. While most policies cover warehouses and other buildings, do not assume that this includes the rest of the garden - which probably will not. If the patio is not covered, then look possibly changing the insurer. And if you're not convinced, why not go around your garden and add the cost of replacing everything, plants included. You may be shocked!
